The Dublin Assay Office was established in 1637, and a date-letter system followed in 1638. This reference chart covers the sequence from 1700 to 1920.

Important: a date letter is only one part of an Irish hallmark. Check it together with the maker or sponsor, fineness and assay-office marks. The Hibernia mark was introduced in 1730 and became associated with the Dublin Assay Office.
