Offered for sale is an authentic powder horn used by a Union Army soldier during the American Civil War (1861–1865). Structurally, it is a small pear-shaped copper container with smooth, streamlined contours, designed for carrying and dispensing gunpowder.
Both sides of the base are richly decorated with relief depictions of military paraphernalia, including star flags, cannons, cannonballs, sabers, rifles, and pistols, clearly reflecting its wartime purpose. The brass dispensing mechanism with spout and retaining hook remains fully operational.
The powder horn is preserved in good condition, showing only minimal signs of use consistent with period military equipment. It is a fine historical artifact and an impressive display piece for a weapons wall case or Civil War collection.
